Alex & Allie
I’ve known Alex for a number of years, meeting him when I volunteered to help a charity local to me, raise funds to save an ancient water meadow from building development. KidsFest was the children’s festival run by children, for children. It was the brainchild of Alex Scrivens, it drew considerable media attention and helped raise awareness and finances that contributed to safeguarding the future of the Bishop’s Meadow in Farnham, Surrey. It was here that Alex also, and far more importantly met Allie. I was delighted when Alex asked me to photograph their wedding.
I met the lovely Allie at an Air BnB in Islington, London where she was getting ready with her sister and bridesmaids as well as her mum and dad. Once Allie had got her dress on and I’d got the shots I needed here, I rode in style – next to the driver of the horse drawn cart Alex had arranged as a surprise for Allie – the few short miles to the New Unity Church in Newington Green. Never having done anything like this before I was thrilled and had a good talk with the owner of the horses.
The ceremony was a humble affair with a large mixed crowd of Alex and Allie’s nearest and dearest. The wedding was followed by another trip in the horse drawn carriage, this time to get some shots of the newly weds en route to the venue, the New Unity Centre in Islington.
Here Alex had cooked and prepared a ton of food and a rip roaring reception was had by all. Following on from the speeches the band set up and the cèilidh began. I’m glad I had an excuse not to join in because I’ve not got the best coordination!!! A lot of jigging and dancing fun was had by all, what a ball!!!
All the very best to you Alex and Allie.
